Today I read Psalm 145 and realized that I’ve either underlined or highlighted or circled words in every verse in this chapter. Yes, it’s that good! Please go read it now (if possible) and your heart will be so encouraged. I’ll wait :).....
Okay, I hope you’ve read it and felt encouraged just like I did. I don’t have time to go over verse by verse with you so I’ll just talk about verse 8.
“The Lord is gracious and compassionate; slow to anger and rich in love.”
O how I wish I was like that all the time! More often than I care to count, I am not gracious (my words and actions are not always kind and warm)...not compassionate (my words and actions don’t always reflect mercy, sympathy, and thoughtfulness); I am quick to anger (oh boy, I struggle with this one the most)...and poor in love (I can be quite a “meanie”... especially at home...you can ask my kids :)).
BUT the Lord is gracious and compassionate; slow to anger and rich in love!!! How grateful I am for God’s graciousness, compassion, patience, and love! Whenever I’m distressed over how ugly my heart condition is, I’m reminded once again how beautiful God’s pure grace is!
Dear Heavenly Father, how can we ever thank You enough for Your unending love, grace, and mercy?! Thank You for being so patient with us while we keep stumbling! Please help us to be gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. In Jesus’s Name, I pray. Amen!
