"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" Matthew 6:27
Or who of you by worrying can solve any problems for that matter? I don't see any hands raised :).
"Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows; it empties today of its strength." ~Corrie ten Boom
Three worry stoppers (gleaned from the book Great Day Every Day by Max Lucado):
1. Pray more. "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." (Isaiah 26:3) When you pray, you "stay" your mind on Christ, resulting in peace.
2. Want less. Most anxiety stems, not from what we need, but from what we want. If God is enough for you, then you'll always have enough, because you'll always have God.
3. Live for today. Don't sacrifice today on the altar of anxiety. God meets daily needs daily (ex: manna and quail for each day in the wilderness). God is never too late.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
Pray about everything; worry about nothing!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for always meeting our needs. We lay all our burdens at Your feet, Lord. Please help us trust You totally and focus on You as our source of hope and strength. Please take all our worries, fears, and doubts away and fill our hearts & minds with Your peace, instead. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
