There are many distractions in this world that steal our peace, joy, contentment, and focus on the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Even during CHRISTmas season when we celebrate the birth of CHRIST, there are reindeer, Santa, Frosty, shopping, baking, wrapping and more that rival for our time and attention. Is Jesus on the fringes of your lives? Do you fit Him in only when it is convenient for you? No room for Jesus but room for other things? With all of our busy activities, we're in danger of excluding from our hearts and lives the One Who made us and died for us.
"Simply make room for Him in your daily life. His presence will become so natural for you, and the time will come when you won't be able to live without it...Simply live with God. The rest will happen by itself, and that will take care of all your worries. A long time ago I came to a very logical conviction: Why should I worry? It's not my responsibility to think about myself. My responsibility is to think about God. It's God's responsibility to think about me.....Sit at the feet of Christ. The world will be amazed when you tell them what you have seen." (quote from a book I'm reading, "Mondays with My Old Pastor")
Mary sat at the Lord's feet listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. Remember what Jesus said to Martha,"You are worried and upset about many things, but only ONE thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:38-42)
May we all continue to live in love with our Lord...may we know Him more and love Him more each day!
